Affiliate Summit East 2018: Perform[cb]’s Guide to New York City

The end of July brings the Clickbooth Team to New York City. Affiliate Summit East 2018 is taking place in the Big Apple and we could not be more excited. Our week in New York will be filled with all things Performance Marketing. But while there, we’ll make some time to experience what makes New York City unique with Clickbooth‘s Guide to New York City.

Places to See:

The World Trade Center:

The One World Trade Center is a New York icon. It is the tallest building of the new World Trade Center complex standing at 1,776 feet high (104 stories).  Featured on the 102nd floor is the One World Observatory which has a cafe, guided tours, and historical videos throughout. The wait times can get long so it’s important to secure tickets in advance.

The High Line:

The High Line

In 1980, the city of New York made the decision to shut down the High Line viaduct due to decreased railway use. In 1999 a local group called ‘Friends of the High Line’ forms and raises over $150 million dollars to not only keep the High Line from being demolished, but also to convert the structure into an elevated park. In 2009, the High Line Park opened to the public and has become one of New York’s most popular attractions. With natural-growing plants and wildflowers, food vendors, and some great views from above the streets, the High Line is the perfect place to take an evening stroll.

Wall Street:

Wall Street refers to the geographical concentration of financial service providers that constitutes New York’s financial district. There’s more to it than just finance though; the architecture is stunning and stems from the Gilded age of the U.S. (late 19th century). The area is filled with monuments, memorials, and a museum. A must see when visiting NYC.

Things to Do:

Times Square:

Times Square

Our Guide to New York City wouldn’t be complete without a stop at Times Square.  What started as a simple intersection between Broadway and 7th Avenue is now the hub of one the world’s most famous cities. Times Square draws more than 131 million visitors every year through its bright lights, restaurants, and shops.

Boat Tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island:

Take a trip to the gateway where more than 12 million immigrants entered the United States. Almost 40% of U.S. citizens have at least one ancestor who entered the country through Ellis Island (History.com). On these excursions, you’ll also stop by Liberty Island to see Lady Liberty herself, whose crown has recently reopened for visitors to enjoy.

Top of the Rock:

With views as great as the Empire State Building and a significantly shorter wait time, the Top of the Rock is a great way to take in the NYC skyline. The observatory at the top of Rockefeller Center offers a 360 degree unobstructed view of the city.

Places to Eat:

Carmine’s Italian Restaurant:

Located in the heart of Times Square, Carmine’s offers family-style food in a fun atmosphere with an attentive staff.  Serving huge portions of delicious food, quality wines, and seven different desserts, Carmine’s’ location will be even more appealing when you get the chance to walk off some of your meal afterward.

Tree Bistro:

Referred to as “downtown’s hidden gem,” Tree Bistro offers a cozy, relaxed dining experience. With a back patio, renowned menu, and authentic environment, Tree Bistro is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day.

Dō, Cookie Dough Confections:

Dō Edible Cookie Dough

Looking for something sweet? This edible cookie dough gourmet shop has become a staple in NYC. Created with all natural, edible ingredients, this cookie dough comes in over twenty flavors and is hand-made every day.

Places to Drink:

230 Fifth Rooftop Bar:

Open year round, this penthouse lounge is known for its rooftop view of the skyline at night and fantastic DJ. If you’re looking to go in the winter months you’ll be treated to one of their custom built igloos on the deck to stay warm.

Bar 54:

With good food, unique drinks, and another incredible view, Bar 54 is the way to go for spending a night out in Midtown.

Barcade:

Housing a large selection of craft beer and arcade games, Barcade will bring you back to your high school days of Pacman and pinball.

Tips & Tricks:

  • Summertime NYC will be hot. Don’t forget your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
  • Save money and skip the Cabs- purchase a subway pass to get around the city.
  • Most parts of the city look totally different at night than during the day. Don’t be afraid to go to the same place twice to get two distinct views.
  • The earlier you get to the popular tourist destinations the shorter the lines will be. Use our Guide to New York City to plan your days accordingly.
